The Entire French Way Self-Guided from the French Border

Travel through Spain’s history and diverse landscapes such as the Pyrenees in Roncesvalles, the Navarra pines, the sweet smelling vineyards in La Rioja and the wide Castilian plains, until reaching the mountains and the oak and chestnut tree forests of Galicia. We will give you a full itinerary of your journey and your accommodations will be reserved for you at the end of each stage, but you walk independently and on your own. An organized adventure!

Our Support

We personally greet you in Pamplona for an introduction on your first day. The 'Briefing Package' we include famous Pilgrim’s Kit (Click here to view) that includes: Your Pilgrim's Passport, the shell, a Marly Camino program with reflections and waterproof Route Map, a waterproof pouch, notebook, snacks and more!

We take care of your accommodations, breakfast, transferring your luggage each day so you can enjoy this adventure your own. You also have the full support of our staff just a phone call away for anything that might come up.

Accommodation

You have accommodations reserved each night, all with private bathrooms. The accommodations are right at the end of each stage so you can easily access them on your own by foot. They include private inns, private hostels, and hotels, depending on the stage and area of Spain you are in.

Departures

We have fixed departures on certain dates of groups of maximum 14 people. We all meet in Pamplona and then head to St. Jean Pied de Port and Roncesvalles together in our private van. You all sleep in the same accommodations each night but you are completely independent, of course. It is very common that will you end up making friends and spending time with the people you meet along the Way.

If you have your own group, and want an independent walk for another dates, just lets us know. Any questions you have, don't hesitate to contact us!

Before and After

Before: Our Camino starts in the city of Pamplona, but we recommend arriving in Madrid or Barcelona where most international flights land. You can arrive a few days before the tour to enjoy the city if you’d like. We would be happy to assist you with hotels bookings.

After: The tour ends in Santiago at approximately 1 pm on the last day of the tour. Transfer back to Madrid or Barcelona is NOT included. Once the tour is finished you can visit Santiago on your own or continue your journey to another city. There are flights from Santiago to Madrid, Barcelona. You can also take a 6-hour train to Madrid from Santiago.

Extra hotel reservations: If you would like to stay in Barcelona, Madrid, Pamplona or Santiago for a few days before or after the tour, we’d be happy to send you a list of hotels we work with along with prices and assist you with the reservations.

Means and Assistance

Vehicle and guide

A vehicle and guide for logistical support will be available during the entire route. It shall be of help not only for the pilgrims in transit but for the transport of luggage and to cover any other needs that might arise along the way. It will have fruits, snacks, water, medicine, first aid kits and everything necessary for unexpected situations.

Luggage transferred

The luggage will be transferred from one hotel to the next using the support vehicle. For the walk you can take a small/medium backpack for a camera, water bottle, and personal belongings. You can use the one we provide, or bring your own.

Mobile phones

Mobile phones with a spanish line will be handed out for the period of the tour for every 2 or 3 pilgrims. This will allow you to communicate with the driver or guides for any reason at all times. The number can also be given to family members back home to receive phone calls.

Pilgrim's Kit

We prepare you for your walk by sending you a packing list with recommendations on what to bring along on your trip, and provide a small backpack with famous Pilgrim’s Kit (Click here to view) that includes: Your Pilgrim's Passport, the shell, a Marly Camino program with reflections and waterproof Route Map, a waterproof pouch, notebook, snacks and more!

Meet at Pamplona train station

We meet at 11:30 am in Pamplona at the main train station. You will then be driven to the French town of St. Jean Pied de Port to walk around and discover this lovely and historic place. Then we will take you to the town of Roncesvalles, where this epic adventure begins. Here you will have the opportunity of attending the beautiful Pilgrim's welcome Mass at the Colegiata de Roncesvalles. You will walk the full French Way from Roncesvalles in a total of 36 stages!

We depart from Lavacolla and pass through Monte do Gozo (Mount of joy). From here you can enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of Santiago in which you will be able to make out your final destination: Santiago de Compostela's Cathedral. The idea is to start the walk early so you can arrive in Santiago before 12:00 pm in order to attend the beautiful Pilgrim’s Mass and perform any pilgrim rituals like hugging the Apostle Santiago if you wish. Congratulations!

Day in Santiago
Visit with local guide

In the morning we will enjoy a guided visit through Santiago. The focus of the guided visit will be on the old city, where we will recall the history of the city and the pilgrimage to Santiago through its main monuments, squares and streets. During the visit we will enter the Cathedral where, in addition to its history and evolution, well-known traditions will be explained. We will also enjoy an exclusive visit to the Cathedral's roof to enjoy the most spectacular view of the city. Our tour comes to an end at about 1 pm.

Full-day Trip to Finisterre
Not Included in Price

You will need to extend your stay in Santiago by one or two nights to join this trip.
You meet your local guide in Santiago and, in our private van, head towards Muros, one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Spain, making a short stop in Alto de Paxareiras until we reach Ézaro & head to the famous Finisterre lighthouse. After breaking for lunch in Finisterre, we will drive to the town of Muxía and then back to Santiago.
