Porto - Santiago

Our classic Portuguese Camino guided tour by the beautiful coast of Northern Portugal and Galicia.

On our Portuguese Coastal Camino we walk along the coasts of Portugal and Spain as well as enjoy amazing journeys by sea including one full stage done by boat. We will enjoy amazing coastal scenery, pristine sandy beaches, beautiful vineyards and winding rivers as we make our way to Santiago de Compostela. We will start our journey in Porto with a wonderful guided visit including a cruise on the Douro river. Our Camino will begin at the coastal Portuguese town of Praia Angueiras from where we will walk 188 kilometers divided into 9 amazing walking stages with an additional stage done by boat. We have selected the finest accommodations for our Pilgrims, from spectacular Paradores to luxurious manor houses so you can enjoy the best of what both countries have to offer.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Meeting in Porto

We meet on the first day at 3:00 pm at the lobby of our hotel in the city of Porto for a welcome cocktail and a short presentation of your Camino. Our guides will then accompany you on a guided visit of the city, including a lovely river cruise to admire the majestic 6 bridges of Porto. In the evening we will meet again to enjoy a delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2

Obelisco da Memoria - Vila do Conde
15.8 km / 9.8 mi

We begin our Camino from Obelisco da Memoria. We will follow the Way along the beautiful Portuguese coast going by many quaint villages and beaches until we reach the town of Vila do Conde from where we will travel in our van to the town of Viana do Castelo.

Day 3

Forte Cão - A Guarda
18 km / 11.2 mi

Starting from Forte Cão in Vila Praia de Âncora we will walk towards Caminha, the last Portuguese city of our pilgrimage. From here we will board our ferry to Camposancos.
Once in Galicia, we will go around Santa Tecla mountaintop towards the coastal road. On this stage, we will find the Castro of Santa Tecla, a Celtic-Roman town dated from I B.C. From here we will walk towards our end of the stage, A Guarda port-villa.

Day 4

A Guarda - Monasterio de Oia
14.4 km / 9 mi

We will then begin our Camino along the Spanish coast until we reach the town of Oia and its beautiful Monastery. At the end the stage we will return to our accommodation. In the afternoon we will enjoy a visit to the historic town of Baiona.

Day 5

Vigo - Redondela
14.3 km / 9 mi

Today we start our walk from the city of Vigo, the largest city in Galicia, as we make our way to Redondela with spectacular coastal views all along the Ria de Vigo.

Day 6

Redondela - Pontevedra
19.4 km / 12.1 mi

Today we start our first stage along the inland Portuguese Camino. We will walk along forest paths and beautiful vineyards until we reach the town of Pontevedra.

Day 7

Pontevedra - Armenteira
21.4 km / 13.3 mi

Today our stage will take us along the Spiritual Variant of the Portuguese Camino to the town of Armenteira. This route will take us along the Ria de Pontevedra and the Parish of Campañó, passing by many quaint villages and towns before finishing our stage in the Monastery of Armenteira.

Day 8

Armenteira - Vilanova de Arousa
25.3 km / 15.9 mi

Today's stage will take us along the banks of the Armenteira and Umia Rivers on ancient stone roads as we pass by beautiful landscapes dotted by vineyards and watermills until we reach the town of Vilanova de Arousa.

Day 9

Vilanova de Arousa - Padrón (by boat)

Today we will have the unique experience of doing a stage of the Camino by sea, as we retrace the journey of the Apostle's remains to Padrón. On this journey we will have the opportunity to relax and take in the amazing scenery. This is our last stage on the Spiritual variant of the Portuguese Camino.

Day 10

Padrón - O Milladoiro
18 km / 11.2 mi

Today's stage will take us along beautiful paths along forests and vineyards as we get closer and closer to Santiago. Today we will end our stage just 6 kilometers from our goal in the town of O Milladoiro, from where we can see the Cathedral for the first time from the top of Agro dos Mostoiros.

Day 11

O Milladoiro - Santiago de Compostela

Today is a very special and joyous day as we will finally arrive in Santiago! We start our stage early to arrive in Santiago in time for the Pilgrim's Mass at noon.

In the evening we will enjoy a very special farewell dinner and surprise.
