Marly Camino and Xacobeo present at FITUR

FITUR 2021 (International Tourism Trade Fair) was held last week at IFEMA (Madrid Trade Fair Institution). It is this year’s first annual event for world tourism professionals.

We are happy to inform you that during the fair we received two important news:

1. Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Xunta de Galicia, presented Galicia as ONE OF THE SAFEST DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD for tourists in the double year Xacobeo 2021-2022, given the very good epidemiological situation that this territory presents and the level of vaccination, assuring and inviting all tourists to visit the Camino de Santiago.

 “The experience is safe, the quality is natural and our approach is long-lasting. We are one of the safest places in the world to enjoy the vacations. We can say that Galicia is already prepared, because we have been working to accredit the safety of our squares, streets, hotels. In addition to a reopened Cathedral of Santiago and a portico of glory that has regained its splendor.

2. The President of the Government Pedro Sanchez announced:

Vaccinated tourists from any country will be able to enter Spain from June 7.

• Citizens of third countries such as the USA will be able to come as long as they certify having received the full vaccination guideline.
• Tourists from countries considered safe, such as the UK, Israel, Australia, Japan or China, will be able to enter from May 24 without health requirements.

UP TO 10 MILLION FOREIGN TOURISTS WILL ARRIVE THIS SUMMER.

It was very exciting to feel the enthusiasm and effort being made by the Spanish tourism sector.

Our experience at FITUR has been very satisfactory, as we were really impressed by the excellent organization and the enormous effort being made to ensure that Spain continues to be one of the world’s favorite tourist destinations.

It has been very moving to meet again with many of our suppliers, strengthen relationships and work together to enrich the stay of our pilgrims. 

It has been five days that translate into hundreds of opportunities and the beginning of new projects to offer you wonderful and unique options for you to enjoy to the fullest!

At the fair I have had the honor of meeting with great experts in the tourism sector and with whom I have been able to exchange knowledge, concerns and news of the Camino. I am full of energy and new ideas to continue walking together, my dear pilgrims!
