The Coronavirus and our commitment to you

Posted on March 13, 2020

My Future Pilgrims,

The current global health crisis has caused a great deal of uncertainty, and we would therefore like to outline our policy regarding this situation in order to resolve any questions or doubts that you might have. The coronavirus situation affects each and every one of us, and we consider it our responsibility to follow its development closely. It’s essential that we are conscious of the role that we play both as individuals and as a company in working together for the common good.

Each one of us has the responsibility to keep ourselves up to date regarding the coronavirus situation. This will help us to minimize uncertainty and take appropriate measures. As always, you can count on our support: we will respect whatever decision you make.

We hope from the bottom of our hearts that you are still as excited as ever to walk the Camino! For this reason, up to today (March 12th) none of the tours that you can see on our website have been cancelled. Given that we are facing a completely unprecedented situation, we have taken the following steps to give you as much flexibility as possible to make your Camino dreams come true:

  • Any pilgrims who wish to postpone their Camino may do so without incurring any additional charges. Marly Camino will credit all payments already made towards the new tour.

  • Our standard Payment Policy states that the final payment must be made 45 days before departure in the case of our scheduled tours, and 60 days before departure in the case of our private tours. In light of the current situation, we feel that it is appropriate to extend the payment deadline to 25 days before departure, regardless of the tour type. This means that we will have access to more information regarding the evolution of the coronavirus and the measures taken by each country to fight it.

  •  There will be no penalties for cancellations in cases where the cancellation is due to the anti-coronavirus measures taken either in your country of origin or your destination (either Spain or Portugal).

  • If you are considering cancelling your tour because you don’t feel comfortable traveling in the current climate, you will always have the option of postponing your Camino without any penalty.

We have taken these steps in a climate of total uncertainty, given that there is still very little precise information about the evolution of the virus, and so we will always be available to answer any questions that you might have. The Marly Camino Family’s commitment to you is as solid today as it has ever been.

We appreciate that we are all facing a situation of great uncertainty and anxiety, but it is for this very reason that we should stay calm, take time to reflect and give the very best of ourselves. Walking together and step by step, we can all work towards the common good.

In all our 13 years of operation, this is the first time that we have faced a situation as serious as this. For this reason we ask you, our dear pilgrims, for cooperation, understanding and above all trust in our commitment to you.

Marly Camino is an official Spanish Travel Agency registered to Spain’s General Tourism Board under license number CICMA 3031 and as such our obligations to our clients are guaranteed by the Spanish government.

Marly Camino stands for transparency, integrity and professionalism, and we will never stop doing everything we can to make your dreams come true.

BUEN CAMINO!
